Portwood Odom Insurance Solutions LLC, now known as Lindsey & Odom Insurance was started 16 years ago by Mona Portwood Odom in Frisco, Texas. That business has now transitioned to Tyler. As Tyler natives, Mona and her husband of 53 years, Ted Odom, had always planned to return to Tyler. Daughter, Julie Odom Lindsey, and son-in-law, Chris Lindsey, are in charge of daily operations.
Mona’s uncle, Troy Portwood, operated a successful insurance agency in Tyler for many years serving the health insurance needs for most school districts in Smith County.

Mona is a Tylerite. She was born and raised here and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. Mona is married to Ted Odom and they have two grown children James and Julie. Mona was a Sales Executive in the corporate environment for 30 years. She understands the importance of customer service and doing what is best for the customer. Mona started her insurance business in Frisco Texas and has now transitioned to one office in Tyler. Mona and Ted’s daughter Julie and her husband Chris Lindsey, two granddaughters, and many other relative live in Tyler and the surrounding areas. As a family business Mona, Ted, Julie and Chris want to provide great service for all existing clients and potential future clients. Mona is a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA). She has been involved with seniors and senior well being for over 20+ years. For the past 16 years, she has been educating seniors about their rights and choices for Original Medicare, Medicare Supplement Plans and end of life planning. Mona offers assistance in choosing from all of the existing Medicare Part D Plans and all of the Major Insurance Company’s Medicare Supplements. Her expertise can help you make sense of Medicare and Medicare Health Plans.

Chris a Tylerite, is a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, and a former United States Marine. After being Honorably Discharged from the United States Marine Corps, Chris earned his B.F.A. from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Chris has a proud family heritage in the insurance industry starting in the mid 1930s with his grandfather, “Ed” Edwin W. Lindsey, a partner in the Taylor Lindsey Adjustment Company. Following World War II, Ed Lindsey was a founding partner of the esteemed Lindsey & Newsom Insurance Adjusters Company, that was established in Tyler Texas in 1948.

Julie is a Tylerite. She was born in Tyler and was raised in Dallas and outside of Boston, Massachusetts. Julie received her Bachelors of Science Degree with two Minors from Emerson College in Boston. For nearly two years Julie was a local news producer and reporter for KETK TV in Tyler. She is married to Christopher E. Lindsey and they have two daughters. After moving back to Tyler in 2002, Julie worked in Home Health for ten years. She worked closely with seniors and their families as a marketing manager and marketing representative. Julie has a passion for customer service; problem solving and helping customers wade through the process of choosing the right health plan for them and their families. Julie is a Sustaining Member of the Junior League of Tyler, a member of The Women’s Symphony League of Tyler and a committee member for Alzheimer’s Alliance. Julie is a member of Marvin United Methodist.

Ted is a Tylerite. He was born in Linden, Texas and was raised in Tyler and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. Ted received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Computer Science from Texas A&M University Commerce. Ted is married to Mona Portwood Odom and they have two grown children James and Julie. Ted is a retired Senior Systems Engineer for Southwest Airlines and also serves as Chief Technology Officer for Portwood Odom Insurance Solutions LLC. Ted and Mona’s daughter Julie and her husband Chris Lindsey, two granddaughters and many other relatives live in Tyler and the surrounding areas. Ted enjoys hunting with friends and spending time with his family.
